Es Baluard Museu
Mallorca
Museums Art and Culture
The full, resounding title of this centre is ¨Es Baluard Museu d´Art Modern i Contemperani de Palma¨ and that pretty well describes it, if not quite in a nutshell! The white concrete structure, completed in 2004, is intended to stablish a constant relationship between the modern exhibition area and the old framework of the Sant Pere bulwark walls of the old city area.
The building houses permanent exhibitions of art collections belonging to various private and institutional collectors, and includes works by the likes of Miró, Picasso, Tàpies, Barceló, Ribas and many more. In addition, temporary exhibitions are held in the restored medieval water tank, and the comprehensive library is available to students.
Opens daily at 10h00 until 22h00 in summer, 20h00 in winter, admission €6.00.
